Julie Hsieh (pronounced Shay) is originally from Taiwan and grew up in Dallas, Texas. Julie is an artist and CEO/Founder of Yuan Ru Gallery located in Taipei, Taiwan, with a new branch in Bellevue, WA. Prior to pursuing the arts full-time, she was a family physician with her own private practice from 2007-2014 in Bellevue. She has a BA in Human Biology from Stanford University, Medical Doctorate from Baylor College of Medicine, and completed her family medicine residency at UC Irvine. In 2014, she moved back to Taiwan with her husband and 2 children. It was there where she discovered her love for art and simultaneously developed as an artist and established a contemporary art gallery. She was President of Taipei International Women’s Club during the 69th and 70th terms of the club, which focuses on Philanthropy, Education and Friendship. She was also the President of Stanford Club of Taiwan, serving alumni and students. Back in the Seattle area since summer of 2021, she is currently on the PTSA Board for Islander Middle School and the Reflections Co-Chair for Mercer Island PTA Council. Besides her passion for visual arts, she also loves to sing and trained as a classical singer in high school and college. She also enjoys her family’s new hobby farm in Port Orchard on the weekends and looking forward to farm fresh eggs soon from her 7 growing hens!
